Morning smoothie

Updated: Dec 16, 2019

This recipe is super refreshing, energising, packed with nutrients and delicious. We love to have it in the morning after a good pilates session to keep that virtuous vibe for as long as possible :D but it's also good for anytime you need an extra boost of energy or ideal when you're in too much of a rush to prepare lunch.

The addition of hemp seeds is not only to add crunch or make it look pretty, this little hearts contain lots of fibre, protein, unsaturated fats, potassium and iron, so if you can get your hands on them (available at natural food stores) make sure to treat your body to a handful of their goodness.

You could do your prep in advance and store the fruits in the freezer for an even more cooling effect or simply add some ice before blending.

The following recipe makes 3 standard size glasses (250ml)

Ingredients:

1 banana, frozen -optional-

1 1/2 cup chopped pineapple

A handful of fresh spinach leaves

1 cup coconut water

1 cup raw apple juice (no added sugars)

1/2 cup chopped celery

4 mint leaves

1 tbsp spirulina or chlorella powder

1 lemon, the juice

3 tbsp hemp hearts

Method:

Blend all the ingredients (except for the hemp hearts ) in a Vitamin (or normal blender) making sure to get a smooth consistency. Sprinkle hemp seeds over each glass and enjoy!
